Empowering children to think in English

Many of our teachers are recruited internationally from across the English-speaking world. Our team is enhanced by local bilingual teachers who are able to empathise with the challenge of learning English. Our curriculum is designed to develop higher-order thinking skills. With over 70% of the day taught in English, we empower children to think in English by making connections, applying their knowledge and solving problems.

International mindedness

We follow international curricula throughout the school, ensuring that children develop an appreciation of different perspectives and understand their place in our global society. Developing an understanding of others’ perspectives and viewpoints also helps them appreciate the importance of caring for each other and the natural environment. A crucial element of helping the children develop empathy and self-awareness is their involvement in social service projects.

Developing 21st Century skills

To ensure our children are prepared for college and are able to successfully participate in the world of tomorrow, we teach 21st Century skills. Beyond technology, these are the skills needed to participate in the global economy of the future. From Early Years to Middle Years students practise personal learning goals, which are individual qualities and dispositions essential for children to develop social and emotional skills, character, and attitudes. These unique goals empower children to state confidently: I am Adaptable, I am a Communicator, I am a Collaborator, I am Empathetic, I am Ethical, I am Resilient, I am Respectful, I am a Thinker. Development of such skills continues in Secondary School with the IB Learner Profile attributes fostering students to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective. We consider these to be essential skills for the 21st Century.

We make your child feel valued

We believe creating an environment where children feel valued is crucial to their success at school. At Winpenny we emphasise social and emotional learning, valuing positive relationships, empathy and kindness. Children are helped to fulfil their potential by being praised for their effort and given positive feedback. We know that we all learn by making mistakes and we teach children to be adaptable and resilient.

School Bus Service

The majority of our school buses are Mercedes Benz Sprinters which hold up to 20 children. This enables us to minimise the time children spend on school transport. All buses are air-conditioned ensuring a comfortable travel experience. We also have a school-employed nanny on each bus with a cellular phone enabling them to be in communication with our Transport Office whenever necessary. The buses are monitored using WEBFLEET, a renowned GPS tracking system which provides a real-time view of vehicle locations and live traffic information.
